Accessibility Information

Perched on a hill, the Bauska Castle Museum requires visitors to traverse a defensive rampart with varying elevations to reach the main entrance. Throughout the museum grounds, access and movement through the castle courtyard involves walking on dolomite cobblestone surfaces. Housed within a cultural monument of national significance, the museum has been thoughtfully adapted wherever possible to support visitors with functional limitations. These accessibility features include an elevator connecting the first and third floors with outward-opening doors for easier access, and elevator buttons marked in Braille for visually impaired guests. Additionally, ramps have been installed over interior door thresholds, and exterior handrails provide support alongside access ramps. The museum also provides accessible restrooms for visitors with mobility needs. For those requiring assistance, information and help are available at the castle gate, or visitors may call +371 63922280 for support entering the museum. However, please note that the castle tower and southern wing remain inaccessible to wheelchair users and visitors with baby strollers.

Parking is located approximately 200 meters from the museum at 2A Brīvības Boulevard. Looking ahead, the museum remains committed to improving accessibility through planned enhancements, including reconstruction of the Eastern Bridge to link both sides of the defensive ditch and provide even easier museum access.
